JONAH JONES’S GLASS – WEST HEATH, BIRMINGHAM

Jonah’s work at the Church of St John Fisher in West Heath, Birmingham was carried out around 1963–64. It included small stained glass lights and four dalle de verre windows depicting the Lord as Good Shepherd, Teacher, King and Redeemer. With a predominant palette of purple and blue these are particularly fine. Jonah revealed in notes written about his work for the church that the windows were “made of inch-thick [2.5 cm] nugget-glass from St Just-sur-Loire in France, set in ciment fondu [high alumina casting cement]”.

GWYDR JONAH JONES – WEST HEATH, BIRMINGHAM

Bu Jonah yn gweithio ar gyfer Eglwys Sant John Fisher yn West Heath, Birmingham oddeutu 1963–64. Roedd y celfwaith yn cynnwys ffenestri lliw bychain a phedair ffenestr dalle de verre yn dangos yr Arglwydd fel y Bugail Da, Athro, Brenin a Gwaredwr. Mae rhain yn arbennig o odidog, gyda’u lliwiau blaenaf o borffor a glas. Wrth ysgrifennu am ei waith ar gyfer yr eglwys, dadlennodd Jonah bod y ffenestri wedi’u gwneud o “inch-thick [2.5 cm] nugget-glass from St Just-sur-Loire in France, set in ciment fondu [sment castio gyda chynnwys uchel o alwmina]”.
